Professional Bio: After graduating with a B.A. in English Composition/Psychology from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, I was accepted to New York University's Summer Publishing Institute, a 6-week intensive course focused on magazine and book publishing. As a temp, I worked briefly at Vogue, Architectural Digest, Modern Bride, Runner's World and more before accepting an Assistant Editor position at Travel Savvy, the first significant post-9/11 travel magazine launch. In December 2004, I was promoted to Associate Editor, responsible for adventure travel-related content. By mid-2005, I was contributing flight and hotel reviews to Business Traveler magazine. Shortly after Frank Publishing founder Sidney Frank passed away in 2006, Travel Savvy was closed, and I began accepting freelance editing and writing projects.
Travel Resume: Travel and writing are my passions, both of which have long been a part of my life. As a junior in high school, I spent six months living in Esslingen, Germany, discovering much of Europe while gaining an intimate understanding of German culture. In college, I visited China, traveling down the coast from Beijing to Hong Kong over the course of a month. Junior year, I lived and studied in Cork, Ireland, attending the National University of Ireland and exploring all corners of Ireland (which remains my favorite country). Following my time in Ireland, I took the summer to circumnavigate Europe and investigate the sleepy, Eden-like Spanish island of Menorca. For work, I've traveled on assignment to South Africa, British Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, Beijing, Singapore, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Indonesia, Alberta, Malaysia and more. My particular travel interests are firmly centered around adventure and cultural travel, eco-tourism and emerging travel trends. |
